KinderFit, P.E.

Teaching a love of Sports& Fitness to Last a Lifetime!

Our Program focuses on teaching children how fun exercise can be through our fun-filled activities!  We work with each child to improve their sports skills, balance, coordination, motor skills, and rhythm.  Too many of our young children today do not live a physically active lifestyle!  Kinder Fit addresses this need by teaching our students that the road to good health is through the joy of being active! Research has shown that the childhood obesity rate has doubled over the past 20 years.  The rapid rise is due to decreased physical activity and increased sedentary activities such as watching television and playing computer and video games.  To combat this rising epedemic, Kinder Fit gets kids up and moving!  Health and Sports authorities recommend at least 30 minutes daily of structured physical activity for children.  Kinder Fit helps parents and educators meet this standard!

We follow Florida's Sunshine State Standards for PreK-3 therefore, each activity has a specific fitness objective and is oriented to each child's age and skill level.  We also incorporate cognitive and social skills into each lesson too, so children are learning AND getting fit!  Studies show that exercise is key to academic excellence and that just 20 minutes of vigorous activity at least 3 times a week can increase attention span and concentration leading to improved grades.  Increased activity levels also leads to higher self-esteem!  Each Kinder Fit activity lasts approximately 30 minutes and is set to music.  Our goal is for the children to get up and move, while having a great time!  We encourage parent participation and continued home activity with our weekly handouts.

As a parent and educator, I was so impressed with your program.  It was exciting to see the children developing new skills and meeting important health/fitness goals in a way that is age appropriate and fun!
Thank you so much for bringing this wonderful program to our school.

What are appropriate activities that will foster a young child's love of physical activity?

"Rather than give you a list of sports that are "good for" children, I think it is important to talk about the characteristics of any type of physical activity that young children engage in. Most of all, it is important for the activity to be fun.  It's also important at young ages for the activity to not be excessively competitive.  And to remember to stop the activity before it becomes totally exhausting. A 20 to 30 minute period of activity is sufficient for a 7-or 8-year-old; it does not have to be an hour and a half!"
